No of projects                         :  (1)     EDUCATION

With the support of Al-Rehman Foundation Qatar SHELTER established   32  Community  Schools  before Earthquake (23 couldn’t be re-established) but now these are only 9 in Distt Bagh  Running with the concept of CRC (Convention on the rights of child) + One school building has been constructed by EDB Enterprises USA at Riyala after earthquake.

   (2)     VOCATIONAL TRAINING

Since 1993, SHELTER has established 28  computer  Centres  in Educational Institutions in Distt. Rawalpindi and in District Bagh, Azad Kashmir, 24 Labs were donated and 4 labs are still running currently Supported by Shelter members from Kashmiri Community in KSA, UAE, USA & UK

  • BASIC HEALTH
  • Established two Basic Health Units in Tehsil Dhirkot – One SHELTER Welfare Hospital building in under construction (Project was funded by Pakistan Baitul Mall M/o Social Welfare)
  • Donation of Leprosy medicines with the support of Kashmir Council Secretariat, Islamabad
  • Launched Free medical camp at RHC Dhirkot with the cooperation of Eye Specialist Dr. Muhammad Waseem Abbasi
  • Regular publication of 78 monthly newspapers SHELTER International (ISSN: 1680-9351 granted from Paris France) focusing on Human rights, Advocacy + Civil society enhancement while giving free coverage to the projects of local NGOs. This newspaper is being supported by members and advertisers regulary.
  • INSTITUTIONS BUILDING:

Has constructed the buildings of:-

  1. One govt. girls primary school
    1. One Madressah Taleem-ul-Quran
    1. Two mosques (at Village Jehlairy Tehsil Dhirkot Distt. Bagh, Azad Kashmir)
    1. One Private public school in Village Jehlairy.
      1. All constructions were contributed by local / international SHELTER members
    1. Revenue Deptt. Plandri has donated 10 Kanals of Land for BHU.
    1. A member has recently donated 10 Kanals of Land at Rawalakot, Azad Kashmir.
    1. A Housing society has allocated 100 Kanals of Land at Murree Baroori for SHELTER’s community dev. Projects.

    (6)    ENVIRONMENT:

(i)         Has established 2 water supply schemes at Village Jehlairy with the Co-operation of TVO.

(ii)        Regularly launch Plantation schemes during February + August every year with the support of Deptt of Forest.

(iii)       Installation of fence for the protection of Forests around Ghaziabad.

(iv)       Awareness raising for the environment protection with SHELTER newspaper.

  • REHABILITATION
    • After earthquake SHELTER Provided relief items to more than 2000 families with the help of different organizations coming from Pakistan & INGOs.
    • Provided 300 tents to different shelter-less families through GOAL Ireland.
    • Provided CGI sheets (20) each to more than 150 families with the support of WORPHCO USA.
    • Constructed 90 sheds for different seriously quaked effected poor families.
    • Launched LOK SANJ FOUNDATION that has constructed more than 600 homes at Tehsil Bagh, Azad Kashmir.
    • Out of 32 community schools, SHELTER was able to re-establish 9 schools only.
    • Out of 18 computer centres SHELTER was able to re-establish 4 computer centers only in Distt. Bagh, Azad Kashmir.

Have signed MOUs with different housing companies for provision of plots and houses to needy community  on nominal costs.
